The role of Learning Support Assistant:

Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of complex additional needs
Supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
Supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Supporting pupils with trauma and attachment-related needs
Supporting pupils with communication and sensory processing difficulties
Supporting pupils with complex behavioural needs that require a calm, consistent and nurturing approach
Building positive relationships
Supporting learning activities
Promoting independence
Encouraging communication
Helping pupils regulate their emotions in a safe and supportive environment
Working closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to ensure every child receives the individual support they need to thrive both academically and personally

The ideal Learning Support Assistant:

Available to work Monday to Friday on a full-time basis
Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle (essential due to school locations)
Reliable, punctual and committed to providing consistency for pupils
Calm, patient and emotionally resilient
Confident supporting children who may display behaviours that challenge
Passionate about supporting children with additional needs
Able to adapt their approach to meet each child's individual learning and emotional needs
Excellent communicators with strong teamwork skills
Willing to learn and undertake additional SEN training where required
Resilient, proactive and committed to providing the highest standard of care and support
Previous experience working within education, care, youth work, residential settings, support work, healthcare or mental health is highly desirable

We are currently recruiting for full-time SEN Teaching Assistants to support children and young people within specialist educational settings in Kidderminster.

This role can be physically and emotionally demanding.
