EYFS SEND Teaching Assistant - Central East Birmingham

The role of EYFS SEND Teaching Assistant:

Supporting the class teacher and SENCO in delivering tailored learning experiences within the EYFS setting
Providing 1:1 and small group support for children with SEN, including targeted interventions
Adapting activities to meet individual learning needs and abilities
Encouraging communication, independence and pupil engagement
Supporting children's social, emotional and behavioural development using positive behaviour strategies
Working closely with the SENCO, class teacher and external professionals where required
Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment

The ideal EYFS SEND Teaching Assistant:

Previous experience working within an EYFS or SEN setting
Good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and inclusive practice
Experience supporting children with additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, or SEMH
Patient, nurturing and resilient
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Passionate about supporting children with SEN to reach their full potential
Reliable, proactive and adaptable
Right to Work in the UK
Valid enhanced child barred list DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Two child-related professional references covering the last two years

Based at a welcoming and supportive primary school in Central East Birmingham, with a start date of September 2026.

The school offers well-resourced EYFS and SEN provision, strong leadership and support from senior staff and the SENCO, and ongoing professional development in SEN and Early Years practice.
