Are you an experienced Buyer with a background in food, FMCG or foodservice?

This is a hands-on purchasing role at the heart of a fast-moving distribution operation, supplying the catering and hospitality trade across the region.

Based in the West Midlands (Willenhall, WV13), this is a permanent, full-time position offering a competitive salary of £35,000 plus benefits and genuine long-term progression.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm

The role of Buyer:

You'll take ownership of stock management across a broad product range — from ambient and frozen goods through to packaging and consumables — ensuring availability is maintained while continuously driving value through supplier negotiations and sourcing.

Place and manage purchase orders to maintain optimum stock levels across 1,000+ product lines
Monitor reorder points and act decisively to prevent shortfalls in a high-volume, fast-moving environment
Identify, evaluate and onboard new suppliers to strengthen and diversify the supply chain
Negotiate pricing, terms and contracts with both existing and prospective suppliers
Maintain accurate records within a computerised stock control and inventory management system
Liaise closely with warehouse and sales teams to anticipate demand fluctuations and seasonal trends

About You

We're looking for a commercially sharp buyer who thrives in a fast paced, high-volume environment. A background in food, FMCG or foodservice procurement is strongly preferred — you'll understand the unique demands of perishable and short-shelf-life product management and the importance of supplier reliability in this sector.

Proven experience in a buying, purchasing or procurement role - food industry, FMCG or foodservice background strongly preferred
Confident negotiator with a commercial mindset and track record of driving value
Competent with stock control or inventory management software
Strong attention to detail with a high standard of accuracy in order processing
Excellent communication skills — able to build and maintain productive supplier relationships
Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to take full ownership of your category
Comfortable working independently while contributing as part of a wider operations team
